GOVERNMENT HOUSE,
HONG KONG.
31st October, 1938.

I have the honour to refer to my despatch
No. 756 of 11th October, 1938, on the subject of the payment of Widows' and Orphans' pensions at a fixed
rate of exchange and to enclose a copy of a letter
which has been received from Messrs. W.H. Stone and
Company, Solicitors, on behalf of Mr. J.J. Bryan, a pensioner of the Hong Kong Government.
2.
If the proposal made in the third paragraph
of my despatch under reference is approved the
principle will apply to Mr. Bryan's case and I shall
be grateful if Messrs. Stone and Company may be
informed in due course of the decision reached.
3.
I shall be glad if opportunity may also be
taken to inform them that it appears that the
prospective pension as quoted by them is incorrect. The correct figure is $1,002.06 subject to audit.
I have the honour to be,
Sir,
Your most obedient, humble servant,
was. Wathest
Governor.
